Speedway-related museums are places that are created by passionate people who work within the sport. One such example is the Asby Speedwaymuseum, located in Asby and run by speedway enthusiast Pascal Lindh.
Asby – a tiny village located in Sweden, with about two hundred inhabitants, located less than half an hour drive from the town of Tranås. The name Tranås should not be a conundrum for speedway connoisseurs, as five-time speedway world champion Ove Fudin was born there. Asby Speedwaymuseum is located in Asby and it is a museum where visitors get a chance to feel the sporting excitement, even outside of the speedway season. All visitors will not only get a chance to return to the past. They also have the opportunity to get to know more about the people who are associated with and represent Swedish speedway today.
The museum is run by Pascal Lindh, who founded it and officially opened it on September 16, 2017. He was inspired by this idea by his own passion connected with speedway. – I used to collect a lot of speedway-related items and just had too many at home. It was then that the idea of opening his own museum was born. I myself became interested in speedway at the age of eleven. I remember it was a match between Skepparna and Kaparna. At that time I was friends with the brother of the rider of the Skepparna's team – says the owner of the museum. – As for the museum, I take care of the exhibits myself. I asked famous speedway riders to help me and lend their belongings to act as souvenirs," he adds.
This past Saturday another exhibition took place at the Asby Speedwaymuseum. Many visitors were interested in the collections. – Brian Speedway Parts sold classic speedway parts, including two-valve engine parts for Jawa. You could also meet talented young people from Nässjö. Former speedway riders could also talk about their past and their career. Viktor Stendahl, who runs a popular Facebook page called "Speedway det är grejer det", was also present during the exhibition, Pascal Lindh mentions.
The visitors also had a chance to talk to the riders, who take an active part in the speedway. Among them was Willy Andersson, a rider who races at competition level in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Also present was Alexander Woentin, who rode for Vetlanda Speedway and Piraterna Motala at Bauhaus-Ligan in the past months. In Poland, he is also bound by a contract with the Unia Tarnów.
